‘How to Guides’ for Mental Health Promotion

‘How to Guides’ for Mental Health Promotion

To build the foundations of a strong mental health promotion system, it is essential we engage in meaningful collaboration with the communities we serve, while committing to strengthening the evidence base that supports effective mental health promotion initiatives.

To assist mental health promotion practitioners to achieve these goals, Prevention United has developed two ‘How to Guides’ for Mental Health Promotion, made possible through funding from the Wellbeing Promotion Office at the Victorian Department of Health.

Community Engagement in Mental Health Promotion: How to Guide

Each section includes practical resources, recommended readings, and links to templates and toolkits to assist with planning and delivering effective engagement activities.

An Introduction to Evaluating Mental Health Promotion Initiatives: How to Guide

The promotion of mental wellbeing and the prevention of mental health conditions is a relatively new focus within public health. Therefore, it is essential to effectively evaluate mental health promotion initiatives to build a strong evidence base and inform future practice and policy in this emerging field.

This guide aims to strengthen mental health practitioners’ understanding and capability in evaluation by offering an introduction to evaluation principles and exploring key considerations specific to the mental health promotion context.
